For the diabetics, foot care is a major priority in the management of their condition. Compared to those without diabetes, they are more susceptible to foot problems and infections and are more at risk for amputation when these are not managed and controlled. So diabetics are more cautious about the safety of their feet and require more special footwear and foot accessories to assist them in their foot care regimen. For a long time now, diabetic socks have helped so many diabetics in providing first-line protection to their feet and better prevent foot injuries. As the product is deemed a necessity instead of an accessory, a lot of manufacturers are constantly making improvements and innovations to ensure better protection for those who need it.

The Coolmax varieties are made of a special kind of fiber treated with antimicrobials to manage moisture problems and prevent development of any opportunistic infections on the feet. X-Static Silver Fibers likewise prevents odor-causing bacteria from forming while it promotes wound healing. The brand itself takes pride in its specially engineered materials that do not fade, shrink or wrinkle even with regular wash and wear. How comfortable these socks are makes one forget they’re wearing one. Smartknit products are made of specially designed and formulated fibers that have thermodynamic properties. Such makes the feet more comfortable as it feels cooler during warmer climate. On the other hand, during winter months, these socks feel a lot warmer too.

All varieties come in different sizes, from Small, Medium, Large and Extra Large to ensure everyone gets their proper fit. In diabetic socks, the right fit is crucial. Too tight increases circulation problems, while socks that are too loose and always gets bunched up may tend to cause discomfort and may not offer the control and protection desired. Apart from the regular sizes, they also make wide designs for diabetic patients experiencing edema or those with casts. Though thigh highs are not presently among their selection, the company is constantly adapting to changing times to cater to everyone’s changing needs and varying preferences.

Diabeticsocks.com, Seamlessdiabeticsocks.com, Therawear.com, Diabeticshoeshub.comForyourlegs.com and Alevalegs.com are just a few of the many places you can check out and order Smartknit Diabetic foot care products. Most of these sites are currently offering discounts on most of their products. If you are in need of quality seamless diabetic socks, you can check them out now and might still avail of the huge discounts they’re currently offering.

Diabetes is a serious condition. Because of this, a diabetic person knows that he or she should take extra precautions concerning his or health. He or she needs a special kind of diet and regular exercise to keep the system running normally. Everything else that a diabetic person does is crucial as even the slightest mistake can cause serious harm to his or her health. A diligent monitoring and self-discipline is primal to ensure a normal and healthy condition.

One of the most important concerns of a diabetic is her or her feet. A diabetic knows that improper care of the feet can ultimately cause him or her exactly that. A diabetic person has extra sensitive feet that needs intensive care or else develop blisters and fungi that will later on cause the feet to decay and ultimately have to be cut off. We know of countless cases of diabetic people’s feet being cut off because they have rotten so much that they had to be cut off or else run the risk of spreading to the other parts of the body and cause even more serious danger, and yes, even death. Because of this, a person with diabetes has to take extra care of his or her sensitive feet.

Sock manufacturers are well aware of this medical fact. Sensitive to the needs of every person, they have developed a special kind of socks for this special kind of need. Thus, diabetic socks were introduced to meet the needs of diabetic people. Not only that, there are diabetic socks for both men and women who have clearly different needs although having the same condition.

Diabetic socks in particular are specially made for the sensitive needs of a diabetic woman. Aimed to give as much protection as comfort, a diabetic woman now has the assurance that her feet will be protected from any blisters or fungi and at the same time enjoy the comfort that the softness of socks bring.

Amazon is one of the global manufacturers sensitive to this medical fact. Because of this, they developed their own line of diabetic socks specially made to care for the feet of a woman. Made from special materials that provide both protection and comfort, they even created a generous number of styles and designs much like regular socks so that a diabetic woman can have a myriad of options to fit her special needs without compromising style.

A woman can therefore choose among crew socks, calf, knee-high, over the calf and even no-show socks that come in a variety of materials and colors. From the classic white, black and brown, a diabetic woman can have fun with her socks in neon green, pink, yellow or even fuchsia. The packaging also comes in twos or threes or even a dozen to meet the needs and budget of a diabetic woman. She can choose from a wide array of brands that suit her personality and lifestyle.

I am a diabetic myself and I personally enjoy K. Bell’s Assorted No-Show Socks. It comes in a six-pack of a rainbow of colors from pink, blue, green, red and the classic black and white. I am quite adventurous when it comes to fashion and my medical condition doesn’t limit my appetite for flair. They are so comfortable yet stylishly fun all at the same time that even come in a reasonable price of ten dollars, down from eleven dollars! Check out this link:

K.
Footsmart’s Over-the-Calf and Mediven’s Sheer Soft Knee High Socks are also in my favorites list since they are functional and stylish yet still give me the protection I need.

FootSmart Men’s / Women’s Diabetic Ultra Over-the-Calf Socks

Footsmart in particular has funky designs that make you want these socks not because of its therapeutic factor but because of its fun styles! Check out this link:

FootSmart Women’s Treaded Ballerina Socks

The Daytime & Overnight Moisturizing Foot Socks are also a smart choice since they can keep my feet dry and protected the whole day, freeing me from the worry of foot sweating that may cause unwanted fungi that is the enemy of diabetics…and even a regular person.

Daytime or Overnight Moisturizing Foot Socks – Great for Diabetic Foot Care!

There are still so many styles and designs to choose from. Seamless or sheer or cotton, crew or knee-high, affordable or pricey, in individual or multi-packs, the ultimate choice is a diabetic woman’s special care for her extra sensitive feet. But while primarily providing protection and comfort, a woman’s choice for her diabetic socks should not sacrifice fun and fashion. Because who says you can’t look functional and stylish all at the same time?

Over the years I have been searching for the perfect diabetic socks most gentle for my feet. For someone who developed Type II diabetes at 55, the many changes and adjustments I have to go through to make sure I have my condition in control, could get overwhelming at times. I must say I am on top of things though. I do everything my doctor tells me and I take my medications on time. It took me a while to get used to the regular sugar tests and all, as well as my regular visits to the podiatrist, but hey, I had to do what’s necessary. Else, I would be putting myself at risk to the many complications my condition could lead to. My doctor told me how these complications could be avoided by protecting myself. And that’s exactly what I’m doing.

As the first-line defense from foot injury, diabetics like me should pay extra attention to the kind of socks we wear. At the beginning I thought all diabetic socks are the same and got myself the very first pair of socks I came across with. Little did I know that diabetic socks could come in many forms, just how regular socks do. From ankle socks, low cut, quarter crew, regular crew cut, below the knee, knee-high, the options are really vast. But apart from the lengths, you would also find non-compression diabetic socks, anti-neuropathy diabetic socks, compression socks, anti-fungal diabetic socks and God knows what else is out there. After a few trial and error, I stuck with diabetic crew socks as I find the length just around my calf most comfortable and is exactly what I wanted. I somehow don’t feel too protected with low-cuts and ankle socks, and I don’t like folding the longer ones either.

So, after trying out a few brands, I have decided on my new favourites. My first pick, FootSmart’s Extra Roomy Diabetic Crew Socks. I’ve heard people buy this one to use over casts or something, the extra room do come in handy. But personally, it’s non-binding and ultra-stretchable qualities are exactly what I need to make my feet feel comfortable and fresh. It has some anti-microbial properties supposed to control foot odors, and even I do not have odor problems, I feel good knowing it inhibits bacterial growth on my lovely toes. In case you wanna check it out, here’s where you can find it:

FootSmart Men’s / Women’s Diabetic Extra-Roomy Crew Socks

New Balance Lightning Dry Diabetic Crew Socks. You won’t believe how soft these socks are. The extra cushion on the footbed makes them perfect to wear when I go out walking in mornings. No matter if I have them on for hours, I never experienced any irritation at all as these socks are designed not to have any seams. Since it is non-binding as well, I could get to enjoy flexibility of movement. This one I recommend. Check them out at:

New Balance Unisex Lightning Dry Diabetic Crew Single Pair Sock

The Arriva Medi-Tec Diabetic Holofiber Crew Socks, like my two other faves, are unisex as well. But this one’s interesting. The Holofibers it contain are said to naturally respond to light and has some really positive effects on the circulation. I do not really notice the difference, but somehow I feel good having them on knowing they would benefit me such way. In case you’re curious about the socks’ scientific claims, and want to try them on yourself, here’s where I ordered them:

There are more diabetic socks out there, but from everything I have personally tried, these three are the ones I can truly recommend.

Of the many conditions concerning diabetics, foot health is of major importance. Anyone who has diabetes knows that protecting the feet is a great priority for them than those without the condition. As my husband is a diabetic himself, I am pretty much involved in keeping his feet and toes in top shape. I guess it’s true that the podiatrist becomes the best friend for diabetes sufferers as they truly help look after those sensitive feet. Developing diabetes sort of took care of my husband’s being stubborn as he started paying attention to everything his doctor says. Checking his toes and feet became a part of his daily routine. Though my husband knows that no one can protect his feet better than himself, he is confident that I always have his back. I found myself more cautious about the kind of footwear I buy him. I also went through a great deal of experimenting on different diabetic socks on the course of finding the one that would best work for him.

Diabetic socks do not really look that different at all from regular socks. I guess the difference is felt once you put it on. Truly, these things are a lot more comfortable and do not irritate your skin at all. Well, that’s how diabetic socks are supposed to be. Unfortunately there are some that didn’t do any good for my husband’s feet at all. As I was in search for diabetic dress socks for my husband to wear to the special functions we regularly go to, I came across

ECCO Men’s Coolmax Dress Sock

as per recommendation of this lady from the footwear department. There are quite a few color choices, all which are appealing, but I got the Navy coz it’s what goes well with my husband’s suit. They did look pretty decent, and I have to say really stylish. He loved how they felt as he put it on. It has hand-made seams that didn’t bother him for a while, but eventually he stopped using it coz they leave marks on his feet everytime he takes them off. We don’t wanna wait for the time he starts forming blisters.

I know somebody who has diabetes as well and suggested that I let my husband try the Wigwam Men’s Diabetic Socks. These socks are incredibly comfortable, so my husband says, and stays that way no matter if he has them on the whole day. They fit nicely and the stretch seem to have helped a lot promote circulation in his lower legs. It’s a bit expensive but they do take care of his feet well, so I ordered an extra pair in a different shade. Check out

Wigwam Men’s Diabetic Walker Crew Length Sock

I also got my husband a pair of the Simcan Men’s Tender Top Diabetic Socks I guess because I liked the way it sounded. They’re very affordable so I don’t have much to lose if they’re no good. But my husband loved how these things hugs his skin just right and the material it’s made from is so breathable. They stay up the way they’re supposed to and it’s quite impressive for a seamless socks. By the way, this one’s unisex. Look up

Simcan Men’s / Women’s Tender Top Diabetic Socks

He is keeping a pair of Foot Galaxy Diabetic Socks as well. You won’t believe how soft these socks are, I tried them on myself. My husband says they do a great job in keeping his feet dry. He uses them to walk around the house to make sure his feet are protected, but he hasn’t really tried them on with closed shoes. Look up

Foot Galaxy Premium Quality Non-binding Diabetic Sock

There are quite a lot more options out there, but I prefer to stick to the ones I’ve tried and proved to be gentle to my husband’s feet. I want his socks to take care of his feet the way I look after him. What might have worked for my husband may not be that appealing to others, but I advice to pick the right size to make sure you experience the intended effect and not to aggravate circulation problems in any way. If you’re the athletic type, go for the cushioned designs. Be watchful and make sure you read labels, the compression diabetic socks are only for those who need it. I made the same mistake once myself. But remember, even the kind of diabetic socks you wear needs to be discussed with your doctor to make sure what you have on are exactly what you need.

Peripheral neuropathy constitutes a wide range of disorders in the body due to damaged nerves that are intended to serve as communication between a person’s brain and the rest of the body. The injury to these nerves results to a miscommunication between the brain and certain body parts, leading to weakness and numbness most especially to the person’s extremities. It leaves a person with some tingling sensation and sometimes with an unexplainable pain on the toes and feet. So many factors cause the development of peripheral neuropathy. Guillain-Barre, leprosy and certain viruses could result to the condition. However, many instances of peripheral neuropathy more particularly affecting a person’s feet are due to Diabetes, where its disease process causes pre-disposing factors to its development.

The biggest disadvantage posed with peripheral neuropathy is the person’s lacking ability of becoming aware of injuries occurring to his feet. Unattended injuries become infected and complications would develop. Since diabetics are at higher risk for developing peripheral nerve damage, this could be very detrimental as diabetic wounds are mostly non-healing, making them more prone to amputation. For people suffering from peripheral neuropathy, special care for the feet is of crucial importance. Special socks are designed to provide relief and the extra needed protection to prevent injuries. Peripheral neuropathy socks intend to provide extra comfort, pressure relief and safety.

Peripheral neuropathy socks are made with the proper fit. Tight regular socks would impede circulation further and is never recommended. These special socks also provide the needed warmth on cooler nights with their well-chosen materials. With the constant search for solutions to peripheral neuropathy, special socks made from Bio Ceramic-infused polypropylene fibers are also developed. This material is known to emit beneficial infrared rays to the feet and greatly improves the circulation, thus benefiting those with peripheral neuropathy. Electro massage devices are also developed for the condition, and along with that, electro conductive socks were manufactured to get the most advantage from the device. These peripheral neuropathy socks are laced with silver to conduct the device’s electrical massage and muscle stimulations.

The goal of peripheral neuropathy socks is to relieve the symptoms and to arrest the progression of the condition. As a supportive measure in peripheral neuropathy management, they have proved very helpful in proving relief and improving blood flow. With the benefits it provide to those with the condition, it is greatly considered a simple, convenient, safe and affordable solution.

With 70% of all amputations performed owing to complications from diabetic foot problems, it is extremely important for someone who has the condition to take extra care and attention to his feet. As diabetes is characterized by high blood sugar levels, impairment of sensation of the peripheral nerves and poor blood circulation, the feet, where circulation is much lesser than the other areas of the body is where the most complications occur. The fact that circulation is needed for wound healing, any injury to the feet of a diabetic person is almost non-healing because of the lack of circulating blood reaching it. Many diabetic products have been developed to prevent these problems. All these products pay particular attention to the care of diabetic feet. Diabetic shoes, foot creams and many other diabetic foot care products are made available in the market.

Among the most important in the care for diabetic feet, socks that provide the needed protection and care should be worn. Though they look almost similar to regular socks, diabetic socks are made from more delicate materials to prevent irritation of the skin, as we know how sensitive diabetic feet are. Common materials used in diabetic socks are cotton, nylon, lycra, spandex and other elastic fibers. Diabetic socks are also designed to promote good flow. They have to provide proper fitting and to be free from seams to prevent any circulation restriction. Breathability is important for diabetic socks to keep the feet dry. Moisture gives fungus an opportunity to thrive. Fungal infections occurring on diabetic feet are difficult to manage and are best prevented from ever occurring. Fungus could leave skin broken and constantly irritated thus if it develops on a diabetic feet, they require more special attention. It could pose more complications than those without diabetes because of the lack of healing.

Diabetic socks with anti-fungal properties are more required to prevent opportunistic fungal infections to occur. Anti fungal socks for diabetics are specially designed to wick away moisture and keep diabetic feet dry. Without the moisture, there is less chance for fungus and other infectious microorganisms to multiply, complications are then better prevented. Anti fungal diabetic socks are easy to find in places where you could find footwear products and diabetic care products. Drugstores and footwear section of department stores carry different brands of anti fungal socks for diabetics.

Though quite difficult to manage, diabetic complications could be prevented. You could start protecting your feet by using anti fungal socks for diabetics. With knowledge, constant monitoring and proper preventive techniques, diabetics need not let their condition prevent them from exploring and having fun, and lead a more normal and fulfilling life.

Diabetics generally have tender feet and poor circulation in the foot and lower leg, making them more prone to foot problems. Such foot problems, if left unmanaged, often lead to loss of foot or limbs. For this reason, extra foot care is more imperative for people with diabetes than those without it. Because of the many potential complications from the disease, diabetic socks have been proven to be beneficial for those who have the condition.

There are different kinds of diabetic socks. Among these are seamless and non-compression socks, mostly made from cotton, spandex, nylon or a combination of other materials. Some diabetic socks are designed as compression socks which help improve blood flow in the lower legs. Some people with diabetes can wear a mild level of compression that gently assist veins and prevent pooling of blood in the feet. Traditional socks or even most of diabetic socks are not designed to do this. Though some of the regular socks offer some degree of compression, are not enough to be considered therapeutic. Compression socks for diabetes deliver graduated compression for improved circulation without the constriction.

Peripheral neuropathy caused by diabetes oftentimes lead to numbness and uncomfortable pain in the extremities. Diabetic compression socks help alleviate this problem. Swollen feet, which are common in diabetics, are also reduced with the aid of compression socks. The uniform compression it delivers helps promote good flow and manage the edema.

Medical researches have found that socks not properly designed for diabetes could cause more harm than good. Even with the right socks, poor fitting would do as much damage. Proper fit is necessary then to get the most benefit out of compression socks. However, not all diabetics require compression socks. It is always best to consult with the physician or podiatrist to determine the proper diabetic socks that would best meet your needs.

Compression socks can be an effective way to help manage diabetes. They are non-elastic, non-binding and are safe so circulation is not restricted. We know how complicated the condition can be, and how the disease accompanies a lot of potential complications but most of these complications are avoidable. Foot problems are best prevented by wearing a good pair of socks. Proper foot care and utilizing compression socks for diabetes makes management of the condition much easier though consulting the physician prior to use is always advised. Remember, along with foot care, diet, exercise and knowledge on diabetes, are all needed to effectively manage the condition.

Foot health is one of the chief concerns of diabetics. People suffering from diabetes are 25 times more likely to lose a limb from foot injury complications. The higher risk for foot problems in diabetics are due to nerve damage and poor circulation, which both needs proper foot care to avoid the potential complications.

Knowing more about the disease helps one manage his condition better. Peripheral neuropathy (nerve function damage in the extremities) results to deterioration of sensation on a diabetic’s hands and feet. Because of this, there is decreased ability to recognize presence of injuries on the extremities and its severity leaving wounds untreated, unmanaged and eventually lead to complications. Good circulation is needed in healing damaged tissues. In Diabetes, the body’s arteries tend to harden and are often blocked, limiting oxygen, blood and nutrients transported throughout the body. Such poor circulation resulting from the disease process leads to non-healing of wounds. Eventually, unmanaged complications end up to amputations as the only resort to stop the progression of gangrene.

Proper foot care is a very effective way to prevent potential complications from the disease. Properly designed socks could be the first line of protection for diabetics. Socks that are completely free of seams are recommended because they reduce the risk of discomfort and ulcerations seams can cause. Seamless socks for diabetics make a lot of sense since there is little chance for irritation on the foot and leg of the wearer. Let us not forget diabetics have difficulty recognizing irritations. Regular socks do not provide the level of protection against foot ulcerations like seamless socks do. Such is also designed to conform to the leg thereby helping stimulate blood flow through them. Aside from diabetes, seamless socks are also even advised for people with arthritis, sensitive feet, varicose veins and even runners who are more prone to foot pains, blisters and injuries.

Diabetic seamless socks are not hard to obtain. Different brands can be found in foot care sections of medical supplies or pharmacies. They are even available in large shoe stores and even department stores. Ordering them online is easy too. There are so many online medical supply websites or places where you can flip through specialty catalogs. If you are diagnosed with diabetes, you must be aware of the complications that come with the condition and recognize the essentiality of proper foot care. Protect yourself and protect your feet. Seamless socks for diabetes will help you do that.

For diabetics, protecting their feet from any injury is of crucial importance. That is for a fact that they are most prone to foot problems than normal people. Such condition is due to two underlying causes, both resulting to the need for proper foot care. Diabetics are known to have high levels of blood sugar. Such can cause peripheral neuropathy which deteriorates nerve functions in the extremities, leading to gradual loss of sensation on hands and feet. Being so, a diabetic are not usually aware of injuries on their extremities, especially on their feet. Unattended injuries quickly lead to infection and complications. Since diabetes also affects proper circulation, which is essential for healing damaged tissues, wound healing is then poor. Gangrene is common for diabetics whose non-healing wounds are not managed. This eventually results to loss of limb from amputation.

Investing in a pair of socks especially designed for diabetics is a good start to protecting yourself from complications. Traditional socks may contain prominent seams which could lead to abrasions from constant rubbing of the sock’s material against the skin on the foot. If they are not properly fitted, they might even impede circulation further and aggravate circulation problems. In the past, wool is the most common material used for diabetic socks. But because of its extraordinarily warm material, and its being expensive, it is no longer used.

Many diabetic experts prefer seamless white cotton socks pre-treated with anti-fungal agents for their patients. Cotton diabetic socks helps prevent moisture from collecting on the feet. Because of its breathable material, cotton is easier to wear in warmer climates. Since cotton can be made thick or thin, proper support is also ensured. The versatility of cotton has made wearing diabetic socks more convenient for diabetics. Cotton socks for diabetics do not really look different from regular socks and even come in different styles, cuts, and colors. Though they come in different colors, white is most recommended for those with open wounds to easily recognize draining wounds.

Cotton socks for diabetes are easy to find at foot care sections of medical supplies, drugstores, shoe stores and department stores. They are relatively affordable too. It is easy to purchase them online, however, make sure you order the right size. Poorly fitting diabetic socks can cause more harm than good. Consulting a physician or a podiatrist is always best to determine the proper diabetic socks for you.
