Diabetic Socks for Women

Diabetes is a serious condition. Because of this, a diabetic person knows that he or she should take extra precautions concerning his or health. He or she needs a special kind of diet and regular exercise to keep the system running normally. Everything else that a diabetic person does is crucial as even the slightest mistake can cause serious harm to his or her health. A diligent monitoring and self-discipline is primal to ensure a normal and healthy condition.

One of the most important concerns of a diabetic is her or her feet. A diabetic knows that improper care of the feet can ultimately cause him or her exactly that. A diabetic person has extra sensitive feet that needs intensive care or else develop blisters and fungi that will later on cause the feet to decay and ultimately have to be cut off. We know of countless cases of diabetic people’s feet being cut off because they have rotten so much that they had to be cut off or else run the risk of spreading to the other parts of the body and cause even more serious danger, and yes, even death. Because of this, a person with diabetes has to take extra care of his or her sensitive feet.

Sock manufacturers are well aware of this medical fact. Sensitive to the needs of every person, they have developed a special kind of socks for this special kind of need. Thus, diabetic socks were introduced to meet the needs of diabetic people. Not only that, there are diabetic socks for both men and women who have clearly different needs although having the same condition.

Diabetic socks in particular are specially made for the sensitive needs of a diabetic woman. Aimed to give as much protection as comfort, a diabetic woman now has the assurance that her feet will be protected from any blisters or fungi and at the same time enjoy the comfort that the softness of socks bring.

Amazon is one of the global manufacturers sensitive to this medical fact. Because of this, they developed their own line of diabetic socks specially made to care for the feet of a woman. Made from special materials that provide both protection and comfort, they even created a generous number of styles and designs much like regular socks so that a diabetic woman can have a myriad of options to fit her special needs without compromising style.

A woman can therefore choose among crew socks, calf, knee-high, over the calf and even no-show socks that come in a variety of materials and colors. From the classic white, black and brown, a diabetic woman can have fun with her socks in neon green, pink, yellow or even fuchsia. The packaging also comes in twos or threes or even a dozen to meet the needs and budget of a diabetic woman. She can choose from a wide array of brands that suit her personality and lifestyle.

I am a diabetic myself and I personally enjoy K. Bell’s Assorted No-Show Socks. It comes in a six-pack of a rainbow of colors from pink, blue, green, red and the classic black and white. I am quite adventurous when it comes to fashion and my medical condition doesn’t limit my appetite for flair. They are so comfortable yet stylishly fun all at the same time that even come in a reasonable price of ten dollars, down from eleven dollars! Check out this link:

Diabetic Crew Socks

Over the years I have been searching for the perfect diabetic socks most gentle for my feet. For someone who developed Type II diabetes at 55, the many changes and adjustments I have to go through to make sure I have my condition in control, could get overwhelming at times. I must say I am on top of things though. I do everything my doctor tells me and I take my medications on time. It took me a while to get used to the regular sugar tests and all, as well as my regular visits to the podiatrist, but hey, I had to do what’s necessary. Else, I would be putting myself at risk to the many complications my condition could lead to. My doctor told me how these complications could be avoided by protecting myself. And that’s exactly what I’m doing.

As the first-line defense from foot injury, diabetics like me should pay extra attention to the kind of socks we wear. At the beginning I thought all diabetic socks are the same and got myself the very first pair of socks I came across with. Little did I know that diabetic socks could come in many forms, just how regular socks do. From ankle socks, low cut, quarter crew, regular crew cut, below the knee, knee-high, the options are really vast. But apart from the lengths, you would also find non-compression diabetic socks, anti-neuropathy diabetic socks, compression socks, anti-fungal diabetic socks and God knows what else is out there. After a few trial and error, I stuck with diabetic crew socks as I find the length just around my calf most comfortable and is exactly what I wanted. I somehow don’t feel too protected with low-cuts and ankle socks, and I don’t like folding the longer ones either.

So, after trying out a few brands, I have decided on my new favourites. My first pick, FootSmart’s Extra Roomy Diabetic Crew Socks. I’ve heard people buy this one to use over casts or something, the extra room do come in handy. But personally, it’s non-binding and ultra-stretchable qualities are exactly what I need to make my feet feel comfortable and fresh. It has some anti-microbial properties supposed to control foot odors, and even I do not have odor problems, I feel good knowing it inhibits bacterial growth on my lovely toes. In case you wanna check it out, here’s where you can find it:

FootSmart Men’s / Women’s Diabetic Extra-Roomy Crew Socks

New Balance Lightning Dry Diabetic Crew Socks. You won’t believe how soft these socks are. The extra cushion on the footbed makes them perfect to wear when I go out walking in mornings. No matter if I have them on for hours, I never experienced any irritation at all as these socks are designed not to have any seams. Since it is non-binding as well, I could get to enjoy flexibility of movement. This one I recommend. Check them out at:

The Arriva Medi-Tec Diabetic Holofiber Crew Socks, like my two other faves, are unisex as well. But this one’s interesting. The Holofibers it contain are said to naturally respond to light and has some really positive effects on the circulation. I do not really notice the difference, but somehow I feel good having them on knowing they would benefit me such way. In case you’re curious about the socks’ scientific claims, and want to try them on yourself, here’s where I ordered them:

There are more diabetic socks out there, but from everything I have personally tried, these three are the ones I can truly recommend.
